Real-Time Safety Management System for Road Tunnels

The monitoring of road tunnels is increasingly concentrated in tunnel trenches with the help of a large number of installed sensors and detectors. In the future, expert systems for the support of the operators will be of huge importance for the combination and interpretation of these individual reports and the resulting preventative, diminishing and harm-limiting actions.

ESIMAS is the development and demonstration of a flexible, modular and innovative expert system, which, by developing new and advanced detection systems, provides high-quality data for a real-time safety analysis and risk assessment and also from real-time measures and action recommendations for tunnel operators. The reliability of street tunnels and their users is to be improved by reliable and timely event detection.
