Investigations on the optimization of longitudinal ventilation systems for road tunnels based on the development of a model tunnel
The main goals of this project were the development and construction of a model tunnel which allows the investigation of flows in a road tunnel as realistic as possible. Experimental investigations were carried out with this model tunnel with regard to enhancing tunnel safety and to both optimize longitudinal ventilations systems and tunnel design. In parallel, these experiments were transferred into computational fluid dynamics models.
