Traffic Safety on B2 + 1 routes in North Rhine-Westphalia

Logos of project participants

Within the framework of the research project, traffic safety is examined on 2 + 1 routes on country roads in North Rhine-Westphalia. The focus is on cross-sections that were previously operated as oversized cross-sections with stripes and were re-marked to 2 + 1 cross-sections. The accident analysis is based on a before / after comparison of the accident characteristics and an analysis of the accident characteristics. In areas where there are deficits in traffic safety, traffic analysis is also being carried out to explain the increased incidence of accidents on the basis of the assessment of maneuvers / conflicts. As a result, recommendations will be made as to the form and equipment of b2 + 1 cross-sections in the future.
