Course Description

Transport and settlement development form a unity. A favorable transport connection has influenced the choice of location at all times. In addition, changing demands on the quality of life and living have an effect on the residential location. The functional separation of living and working generates traffic, which in turn has a lasting impact on the landscape and cityscape in various forms. Thus, separate consideration of urban planning and transportation is not contemporary. The joint consideration of the respective development goals is expressed by terms such as spatial planning and regional planning. The module Planning Methodology offers students an introduction to the basic structure of the spatial and transport planning system in Germany.

The examination subject introduces students to the fields of urban development and urban planning, roads and railways. It thus also forms the basis for the subsequent modules in the Bachelor's degree program in Civil Engineering: Fundamentals of Urban, Regional and Transport Planning (4th and 5th semesters), Road Planning and Construction (4th and 5th semesters) Railway Engineering I / II and Transport Economics I (4th, 5th and 6th semesters).
