Road Planning I
Road Planning I
Summer semester
The course "Road Planning I" is relevant for the following study courses:
- B.Sc. Bauingenieurwesen
- B.Sc. Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen
- B.Sc. Mobilität und Verkehr
The aim of road planning nowadays should include safety and efficiency of the design with the highest respect being given to nature and mankind, in order to minimize or even obviate possible harmful effects.
The basic terms "traffic", "traffic routes" and "transportation" can be defined as follows:
Traffic is the movement through space by persons, goods and messages
Traffic routes are the predetermined paths for the use by the traffic
Transportation is the topic that combines all the phenomena and their interrelationships in moving through space
The seminar "Road Planning“ covers the basic knowledge required for the laying out and dimensioning of main traffic routes, whereby the initial seminars cover longitudinal and elevational planning.
Also covered are the basics for the design and the calculation measures for road dewatering concepts, which form the basis for highway and motorway drainage measures and are an integral part of the dimensioning for motorway junctions / intersections, covered in the second part of the course.
In order to plan and design a road it is necessary to ask - what needs has the road to fulfill - also under consideration of the far-reaching impacts of a technical, ecological and an economic nature, whereby road planning is always associated with general social and economic developments.
The course "road planning I" is accompanied by a web-based examination. The self-determining use of the taught learning contents ensures a best possible preparation to the exam at the end of the semester.
Content of the lecture:
- Independent design of roads
- Independent assessment of road traffic systems in consideration of the traffic theory
- Basic understanding of the connections in road and planning law
- Solution of planning questions
Time scale:
- Lecture: 2 SWS (Semester Credit Hours)
- Exercise: 1 SWS (Semester Credit Hours)
The information booklet on "Road Planning I" is available for download on L²P or can be viewed in the display case at the institute.
In addition to the Road Planning I module, the students have the opportunity to participate in the "Praxis Straßenwesen" series of lectures.
