Traffic Safety in Driveways on Federal Highways

Against a backdrop of increasing driving performance, this research project examines the single-entry driveways of types E1, E2 and E3 on motorways in order to supplement existing insights into two-entry entrances and thus to carry out a comprehensive assessment of the entrances.

With regard to demographic change in Germany, it will become more and more important to address the needs of older road users and, if necessary, to design various node elements where appropriate. In addition to the identification of "problem areas" within plan-free junctions, the aim of the project is to provide a comprehensive assessment of the traffic safety of different driveway types and node elements by means of comprehensive accident analyzes and a comprehensive empiricism. The interests of older transport users should also be considered. The results flow into the current rules.
