In this research project the psychological effects of the design, the length and the staggering of long-term work stations on federal motorways are to be investigated. The findings are gained by extensive surveys of road users as well as driver observations during the passage of work stations. On the basis of the observations, hypotheses are formulated and verified in the driving simulator laboratory. An evaluation of real and simulator journeys is intended to illustrate the relevant characteristics of workstations as well as their effect on the transport user.
